Żurek is a traditional soup from Poland, well-known for its sour taste, which is achieved through the use of sour leavening or the fermentation of rye flour and bread. In addition to potatoes and mushrooms, the soup is typically made with sausages, bacon, or ham. While it is a popular dish throughout Poland, each region has its own variation. It is not uncommon for the soup to be served in a bread bowl, with half a hard-boiled egg used as a garnish. Żurek is traditionally enjoyed during Easter.

Other Polish soups selected to be on the list include: Barszcz czerwony (Polish red borscht), Zupa borowikowa (Boletus soup), Kwaśnica (Sour soup), Rosół (Chicken soup) and Zupa ziemniaczana (Potato soup).

Taste Atlas rankings have become increasingly popular in recent years. In 2022, Poland could, among other things, enjoy very high places for Polish cheeses, cold cuts and sausages, as well as desserts.
