Russia behind cyberattack on Polish tax website

At first, it was assumed that the website’s downtime was caused by a technical error, as the Finance Ministry informed the Polish Press Agency.

However, on Wednesday, Janusz Cieszynski, government commissioner for cyber-security, said that the activity of the Russian secret services caused the shutdown.

“The Russians were responsible for yesterday’s attack. We have information that makes it very likely that it was them” – he told a private broadcaster Polsat News.

According to Polish authorities, access to the tax site was blocked, and users were denied service. It was explained that the attack generated a lot of artificial traffic on the website, but no data was stolen.

The site is now back up and running normally.
