Polish realistic doll-designer on BBC’s list of 100 inspiring women for 2021

Polish artist Barbara Smolińska has been included on the BBC’s list of the 100 most inspiring and influential women worldwide for the year 2021. She has been featured because of the special baby dolls she is designing. 

As a matter of fact, Barbara Smolińska is the founder of the Reborn Sugar Babies company, which produces life-like baby dolls that can be used as therapeutic aids in treating depression, anxiety and fertility issues.

Smolińska started the designing of these ultra-realistic dolls eight years ago. They are being used among others in films, commercials as well as to train nurses, doctors and midwives in several medical institutions.

Smolińska is passionate about her art and believes that her creations give hope to women and improve their mental health,” the BBC reports. 

I would like people to become more empathetic, more open and tolerant of what is different, as is the case with the reborn dolls therapy, which can help so many women,” Smolińska was quoted as saying.
