Iga Świątek is knocking on the door of the WTA ranking podium once again!

A decade ago, it is Agnieszka Radwańska who was at the peak of her tennis career after having reached the final of the 2012 edition of Wimbledon. Back then, “Isia” even reached second place in the WTA ranking.

Today, the new superstar of Polish tennis is the 20-year-old Iga Świątek, who already showed what she is capable of at the occasion of her triumph at the 2020 French Open.

Since then, the young Varsovian made it to the last 16 at every Grand Slam she participated in (except at the US Open 2020 where she was eliminated just before that stage, in the third round).

Iga shows an impressive regularity at the highest level. She even recently qualified for the semi-finals of the Australian Open fo the first time in her career.

Following this achievement, she climbed from 9th to 4th place in the WTA ranking. The first time she was ranked so high dates back to late September 2021.

Given her current form, many observers believe that Iga will eventually be able to join the top prestigious top 3. Indeed, while watching her play, one has the feeling that the best is yet to come for her.

On the other hand, getting to the podium of the WTA ranking may still require some time for the Pole. As a matter of fact, Iga has over one thousand points less than the Belarusian Barbora Krejcikova (respectively 5533 and 4456).

One thing is sure, Iga has a whole nation behind her waiting for her upcoming feats.
