Iga Świątek and Hubert Hurkacz make Poland proud in Miami

2022 seems to be the year of Polish tennis. Iga Świątek and Hubert Hurkacz are respectively showing the world that they are currently among the best in their sport.

Iga Świątek has a winning streak of 18 matches, which has only been achieved by three other players before. What’s more, Iga took over the throne of the WTA ranking following Ash Barty’s surprising withdrawal from the tour.

In case anyone had a doubt about her new ranking, the young Varsovian also became the youngest player ever to win three consecutive Masters 1000 titles.

It is worth emphasising that Iga won the Miami open by defeating the Japanese star Naomi Osaka in the final with an athoritaian score (6-4, 6-0), as if to say “I am the bass now”.

On the other hand, Poles have also another reason to rejoice. Indeed, Hubert Hurkacz has also won the Masters in Miami. He teamed with the American John Isner to claim the men’s doubles crown.

Hubi has already shown what he is capable of in the end of last season when he managed to qualify for the prestigious ATP Finals, gathering the 8 best players in the world. Being ranked 14th at the moment of writing, the Silesian player remains among the serious candidates for this season’s edition.
