As The Star reports, Sheffield’s fish and chip shops have been preparing for the special day for the last weeks.
National Fish and Chip Day: Sheffield chippies get ready for the celebration of one of our favourite dishes.
Every year, The National Edible Oil Distributors’ Association (NEODA) – a British trade organisation – brings together everyone involved in creating the traditional dish from fish and chip shops, fishermen, farmers, retailers, and restaurants.
The association represents all the major distributors of edible oil, key packers, and refiners, but also suppliers of products such as sausages, batter mix, sausages, and potato preservatives across the UK.
“National Fish and Chip Day has become more popular each year and in 2022, as a warm-up to the Queen’s Jubilee, we want it to be even bigger!” NEODA’s President, Gary Lewis told The Star.
„It’s a celebration of the stars who work hard to bring Brits their favourite traditional takeaway. We want to bring the whole industry together to celebrate and showcase the great British institution that is Fish and Chips,” he added.
This year’s edition of the National Fish and Chip Day is backed by Norwegian sponsors, Seafood from Norway (Norwegian Seafood Council) and Blakemans.
“We are delighted to sponsor National Fish and Chip Day this year. We have worked closely with the fish and chip industry in the UK for many years supplying sustainable quality fish, and this is a great opportunity to celebrate our relationship,” Hans Frode Kielland Asmyhr, UK Director of the Norwegian Seafood Council told the media.
