Iga Świątek and other tennis stars team up to raise funds for Ukrainian children

The world’s number 1 Iga Świątek has proven on many occasions that she is great in and outside of her sport. The young Varsovian recently published a short message on social media informing about her project to organise a special fundraising event on the 23rd of July in the TAURON Arena Kraków for young people struck by war in Ukraine.

For months, I have been working with my team on a charity initiative to support those who suffer because of the war […] We will play a mixed double exhibition match […] Agnieszka and I will play one set of singles […] There will also be a special guest representing Ukraine – former football player Andriy Shevchenko. […] I am so happy and grateful, we’re making it happen” – Iga wrote.

The total proceeds of the event are to be donated “to the support of the children and teenagers affected by the war in Ukraine”.

I just found out that the first pool of tickets […] has practically sold out […] You guys are amazing because all the income will support an important goal. Those who missed the chance can still buy tickets during the sale of the second pool of tickets on the 11th of July” – Świątek tweeted on the 30th of June.

At only 21, Iga Świątek is already at the top of her tennis career. As of the 1st of July, the Polish champion holds 37 consecutive wins on tour. The last time such a winning streak has been achieved by a female player was 25 years ago by the Swiss Martina Hingis.
