“Poland should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize”, says the US Ambassador to Warsaw

In an interview given to the Polish Press Agency, American ambassador to Warsaw Mark Brzezinski expressed the opinion that the people of Poland should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their outstanding efforts in helping their Ukrainian neighbours.

In Poland, we saw the rapid mobilisation of Poles to help refugees in the face of their mass exodus […] I would like to emphasise it once again that this gives hope for a broad renewal of the country, awakening such a potential for Poland to flourish,” – he explained.

He referred to the current situation as “an extremely important moment in the history of the Polish country”. He added that “on behalf of all Americans […] we are deeply touched by the selflessness and greatness of Poles who helped the refugees”, concluding that, in his opinion, it “certainly deserves the Nobel Peace Prize”.

When asked about Poland’s stance regarding the ongoing conflict raging between Ukraine and Russia, Ambassador Brzezinski reminded us that Poland is continuously targeted by a disinformation campaign from the Russian Federation.

We see examples of it all over the country, but Poles are intelligent, they have a sixth sense because they have already been the target of propaganda and disinformation in the past, so they are sensitive to it”, – he explained.

Over 6.5 million Ukrainians have crossed into Poland since Russia invaded Ukraine in February. The unprecedented crisis prompted a massive humanitarian response from millions of Poles.
