Arsenal signed Polish defender Jakub Kiwior

Polish defender Jakub Kiwior joined Premier League leader Arsenal for €25 million. His new contract has been signed for 5,5 years. Some propositions in life are hard to reject. Arsenal’s proposition was one of them.

The Polish talent left Italy, where he was performing for Spezia since August 2021, where he played 37 league games. According to various media sources, Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta had his eye on the Polish centre-back for quite some time.

Kiwior made his debut as a starter for the Polish national team against the Netherlands in a Nations League 2–2 away draw back in June 2022. He was also named in the 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Given his confidence and maturity, he was regularly solicited in the starting 11 and displayed a composed vision of the game, even against intimidating teams such as France and Argentina.

More broadly, it can be said that along with Matty Cash, and Jakub Moder among others, Jakub Kiwior is seen as a rising star of Polish football. On 15 February, he’ll turn 23, which is the golden age for many players. And although the young Silesian’s career has been a series of successes so far, he is now entering a new dimension by joining one of England’s elite teams.

The Gunners hope that the Pole’s magic left foot will be of good use in their chase for the craved Premier League trophy. As of 22 January, Arsenal is 5 points ahead of Manchester City, who is the other serious contender for the title this season.
