Robert Lewandowski started 2024 in great form. The Polish sniper has just scored his third goal in three matches after having experienced a few challenging weeks due to an ankle injury. 

FC Barcelona’s number 9 started this new calendar year by scoring a penalty in the last minutes of a surprisingly complicated match against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey. A few days later, Lewy cracked the code of Osasuna’s defence with a clever move, giving his team the lead. 

Last Sunday, the Blaugranas were facing Real Madrid in the final of the Spanish supercup. Although the Catalans received a beating (4-1), the Polish striker found the net with an absolute banger after half an hour of play. 

The race for finishing as Spain’s best scorer is still on. However, Lewy would need to get back to his peak form if he wants the Pichichi. “Lewangoalski” has scored eight so far in La Liga, far behind the current leader Jude Belligham’s thirteen. 

The coming months will bring some important games and Barcelona will need their skilful forward to continue delivering. The Blaugranas are dreaming about winning La Liga, which will be extremely harsh. As of mid-season, the Catalans are eight points behind the current leader, Girona, and seven shy of Real Madrid. 

Contrary to last year, Lewy and Barça will be playing in the final stage of the Champions League. As of January 2024, the Pole is the third-best scorer in the history of this competition with 92 goals. Barcelona’s rival in the round of 16 is Napoli. The first game opposing both giants will take place in Italy on 21 February. 

Polish fans also count on their hero for the upcoming qualifications for the EURO 2024. After a catastrophic qualification campaign, the White and Reds must defeat two teams to make it to the prestigious tournament. On 21 March 2024, Poland will face Estonia. Soon after that – in the case of victory – the Polish team would face either Wales or Finland.
