Ukrainian police arrests group preparing arson attacks in Poland on orders from Russia

Ukrainian authorities have detained a group of individuals who, on orders from Russia, were preparing a series of arson attacks on civilian objects and critical infrastructure in Poland and the Baltic states, the Office of the Prosecutor General in Kyiv announced.

The group was led by a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk, who searched via the internet for those willing to join in diversionary activities on behalf of Russia.

The candidates were to prepare and carry out arson attacks on civilian objects and critical infrastructure in Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic States,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

As a result of the actions taken, the Ukrainian authorities detained three people, against whom preventive measures were applied.

As part of the investigation, the Ukrainian police simultaneously searched 40 locations in  Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava and Kyiv regions. Police officers confiscated weapons and ammunition, nine cars and cash equivalent to more than $90,000. False vehicle registration documents, medical certificates, school certificates and thousands of blank forms were also found.
