Lady Victoria Stramer – meet the wife of the UK’s new Prime Minister

The wife of the new British Prime Minister, Lady Victoria Starmer, has Polish-Jewish roots. Polish PM Donald Tusk referred to this question during a phone call with her husband. He said that the head of the British government spoke with him about being proud of that Polish heritage.

Victoria’s father, Bernard, was born in 1929 in Hackney, East London, into a Jewish family who had immigrated from Poland. Mother Barbara, in turn, came from Yorkshire and was a family doctor, and after meeting her future husband, she converted to Judaism.

Keir Starmer has mentioned in various interviews that their two children are brought up in their mother’s faith, and although he is an atheist, he relatively often goes to synagogue with them, and Jewish traditions are observed in their home.

Victoria Starmer graduated from law school. She currently works in a hospital and plans to continue her job after her husband is nominated prime minister.

Since the news about the new Prime Minister reached the public media around the world tried to reach Lady Victoria as her media appearance until that day was very significant – she had never given an interview.
