A new statue of Margaret Thatcher has been vandalised

The statue of Margaret Thatcher – erected in her hometown – was devastated two weeks after it was erected. The monument was already known about before because eggs were pelted right after its installation.

A 300,000 pounds sculpture depicting the UK’s former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has been targeted by vandals two times in only two weeks, the first time with eggs, another time with the use of red paint.

The author of the “egging” was a 59-year-old professor who has been fined £90 for his act.

It is believed that the more recent attack with red paint has been perpetrated by people with Communist world views, given the hammer and sickle symbol of communism have been found painted on the protective fence.

The latter has been installed around the Iron Lady’s statue, as local authorities suspected that the installation of the statue would trigger the nerves of some people. CCTV cameras have even been installed in the vicinity.

Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom the between 1979 and 1990. She remains considered one of the most prominent British personalities of the 20th century.
