Alicja Bachleda-Curuś explains why her son can’t speak Polish

Henry Tadeusz Farrell, the son of actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś and Irish actor Colin Farrell, has been a figure of public curiosity for years. For a long time, his mother kept him away from the media spotlight, but that changed less than two years ago when Colin Farrell brought him to the Oscars, marking Henry’s first appearance on the red carpet. Since then, he has been increasingly photographed by American paparazzi.

Although born and raised in the United States, many wondered why Henry did not speak Polish with ease. In an interview with Życie na gorąco, Bachleda-Curuś shared her perspective:

I very much wanted him to speak mainly in Polish, but English came to him more naturally—he heard it everywhere, and I wanted to communicate with him as quickly as possible. So I compromised,” she explained.

While English remains his everyday language, Henry is making an effort to learn Polish. According to his mother, he carefully prepares entire sentences ahead of visits to his grandparents in Poland, something that brings him great joy.
