On behalf of the organisers, we warmly invite the entire Polish community and friends of Poland to the solemn All Souls’ Day commemoration at the Polish War Graves in Newark Cemetery, taking place on Sunday, 26 October 2025.
The event is organised by Simon Elmer of the Polish Airmen’s Association UK, with support from the Consulate General of Poland in Manchester, the local British community, and representatives of Polish communities in the UK.
This special day of reflection and gratitude honours Polish airmen and soldiers who fought for Poland’s and Europe’s freedom during WWII. Newark Cemetery is the resting place of nearly 400 Polish heroes (300 Polish pilots and veterans of the Polish Air Forces and 57 paratroopers from the 1st Independent Parachute Brigade), as well as symbolic memorials for General Władysław Sikorski (whose ashes are now at Wawel) and the graves of three Presidents of Poland in exile: Władysław Raczkiewicz, August Zaleski, and Stanisław Ostrowski (whose remains were transferred to the Temple of Divine Providence in Warsaw).
Event Schedule:
2:30 PM – Gathering of participants near the car park at Thoresby Avenue (NG24 4DJ),
2:45 PM – Procession to the Polish Memorial and communal prayer,
3:00 PM – Lighting of candles, laying of wreaths, and speeches.
