Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was on an official visit to London on Friday the 26th of November. He met with the head of the British government Boris Johnson in order to discuss among others the situation on the EU and NATO’s Eastern flank.
During the encounter, Boris Johson emphasised the importance of bilateral cooperation between both countries by stating that “Poland is our closest European ally in NATO in the field of defence of long-term security.”
On his part, the Polish Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the British understanding of the seriousness of the situation. “I am happy that Prime Minister Johnson and the UK are on the same wavelength as us when it comes to the analysis of the root of the crises around us,” he said.
“Boris Johnson agreed with Poland on the causes of the Belarus border crisis, as well as other issues such as energy, Ukraine and how they should be approached,” the Polish Prime Minister emphasised.
He went on by explaining that “we can see that in this new world scene there are not necessarily good players near our borders, which is a significant challenge for the transatlantic community. We must stand in solidarity”.

In recent days, Mateusz Morawiecki held a series of meetings with heads of State from France, Germany, the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) as well as Poland’s Visegrad Group partners (the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary) and Croatia.
All of the above-mentioned countries reassured their support for Poland in the midst of the ongoing hybrid attack of Alexander Lukashenko on the European Union.
