British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be flying to Warsaw on Thursday in order to meet his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki as well as President Andrzej Duda.
As the Reuters agency reported on Tuesday, the aim of this visit is to discuss the evolution of the security situation around Ukraine.
“Any attack [from Russia on Ukraine] will only strengthen NATO,” Boris Johnson assured while talking with The Times. He added that the UK was considering sending ships, military planes, and commandos to NATO’s eastern flank.
He also assured that his country will “not shirk” from helping Ukraine and that NATO “will remain steadfast„.
This Monday, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace already announced 350 additional troops were to be sent to Poland amidst the rising security threat from Russia.
The British Ministry explained that the soldiers’ mission is to support the Polish side in the field of joint exercises, emergency planning, and capacity building in the face of the gathering of Russian forces on the border with Ukraine.
On the 17th of January, Wallace informed the House of Commons that the UK had provided Ukraine with light anti-tank defence systems to increase its defensive capabilities in the case of a Russian invasion.
