Clare Mulley tells the story of WW2 resistance fighter Elżbieta Zawacka at Chelsea History Festival

The Chelsea History Festival is back for its sixth year, bringing world-class history writing to the heart of London.

Thursday 26 September, Clare Mulley will tell the incredible story of wartime resistance fighter Elżbieta Zawacka, known as ‘Agent Zo’ – the only woman to parachute from Britain to Nazi German-occupied Poland.

About the event

Clare Mulley reveals the remarkable life of one of the most highly decorated women in Polish history, whose achievements remained hidden for over forty years.

This is the incredible story of Elżbieta Zawacka, the WW2 female resistance fighter known as ‘Agent Zo’. She was the only woman to join the Polish elite Special Forces. Secretly trained in the British countryside, she parachuted back behind enemy lines to Nazi-occupied Poland.
