Having been cast in a secondary role in Handel’s Rinaldo at Glyndebourne two years ago, the Polish countertenor was able to make an unusually high profile due to the indisposition of another artist. With a Gramophone Award that same year in the Young Artist of the Year category, and Best Singer of the Year awarded by readers of the German magazine Opernwelt in 2020, his rise to stardom has been swift and compelling.

The Concert of Jakub Józef Orliński (countertenor) and Michał Biel (piano) will take place at Wigmore Hall on Sunday 1st May 2022 at 7.30 pm.

This concert will be approximately 2 hours in duration, including an interval

In the first recital of his residency, the star Polish countertenor joins with his equally high-flying pianist compatriot in a programme that includes songs by the Polish Romantic composers Stanisław Moniuszko (1819-72) and Mieczysław Karłowic (1876-1909), in addition to a wealth of music from the Baroque period.
