On November 17th you will have a unique chance to hear from the former Polish Deputy Minister for Investment and Development Paweł Chorąży on the role of EU funds in the modernisation of Poland.
Paweł Chorąży (Kho-ron-zhy) currently occupies the role of a Managing Director at the European Funds Department in Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) – Polish State Development Bank, which distributes EU funds in Poland; financing highway construction, renovating rails and tackling the economic consequences of the ongoing pandemic.
Since September 2015, he has been a member of the High Level Group of Independent Experts on Simplification for ESIF Beneficiaries in the European Commission. He participated in advisory projects for the Governments of Croatia, Romania and Georgia. He was a member of OECD expert missions in Turkey, Japan and Kazakhstan among many others.
Previously, Chorąży was in charge of the World Bank’s Rural Development Program and PHARE pre-accession funds in Poland. From 2004, he was the Director of the Department of the European Social Fund. He was responsible for Polish accession negotiations with the European Commission and supervision over programs co-financed by the European Social Fund from the beginning of Poland’s membership in the EU. He coordinated projects supported under the European Globalization Adjustment Fund and cooperation with the Local Economic Development and Employment Program under the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
