Ewa Pajor will join FC Barcelona!

According to reports from German and Spanish media, the Polish forward Ewa Pajor is about to finalise her transfer from VFL Wolfsburg to FC Barcelona from next season.

The transfer, although not officially confirmed yet, is anticipated to be around EUR 500,000, setting a record for a women’s team from Catalonia.

On Monday, Mundo Deportivo reported that FC Barcelona “has finalised one of the most talked-about transfers in the women’s football market, acquiring Ewa Pajor, a 27-year-old forward from Wolfsburg […] after a record transfer worth nearly half a million euros.

Pajor, who has long been regarded as one of Europe’s top forward players, has been performing for VfL Wolfsburg since 2015, having previously played for Medyk Konin.

Last October, Pajor ranked 18th in France Football magazine’s esteemed poll for the world’s best female player for the 2022/23 season, marking the first time a Pole has been nominated in the top 30 female players worldwide.

In the previous season, she reached the final of the Women’s Champions League with Wolfsburg, narrowly losing to Barcelona 2:3 (despite leading 2:0 at half-time). She scored one of the goals in that match and also serves as the captain of Poland’s national team.

In Spain, Catalonians are sometimes calles “Polacos”, which can literally be translated as “the Poles” or “the Pollacks”. Without entering the debate of why it is so, the sure thing is that following Robert Lewandowski’s move from Bayern Munich to the FC Barcelona, the Catalonian capital will have yet another talented and true “polaco” wearing the Blaugrana colours soon.
