On Sunday, 9 October, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki participated in a rally organised in Madrid by the right-wing VOX party, whose leader is Santiago Abascal.
During a speech given to an enthusiastic crowd, Abascal praised the Polish nation with warm words.
“How can we not admire the nation whose son has come to holiness? Our beloved Pope John Paul II, who loved Spain so much, calling it ‘the land of Mary’ […] How can we not admire the nation that created such a movement as ‘Solidarity’ that resisted communism? [This] inspired us to create an anti-communist trade union in Spain.” – he explained.
“If I wasn’t born Spanish, I would like to be Polish. How not to admire the nation that helped defend Europe in 1683, thanks to the charge of the hussars under the command of Jan Sobieski. This battle was as important as Lepanto to the Spaniards” – the VOX leader continued.

“How not to admire the nation that met and defeated Nazi and Communist totalitarianism?” – he rhetorically asked.
Morawiecki was invited to the VOX event along with famous right-wing figures such as Donald Trump, Viktor Orbán, and Giorgia Meloni, among others.
