„If Ukraine loses, Poland is next in line” – warns Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister

Earlier this month, a group of journalists from Daily Express travelled to Warsaw in order to conduct a series of interviews with Polish politicians.

One of the interviews was made with Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński, who emphasised that his country would be “next in line” if Ukraine happened to succumb to Russia.

If we cease to support Ukraine, Russia will win this war, and I think this is quite a simple alternative […] We have to help Ukraine defend itself because Ukraine is defending not just its own territory […] but it’s also defending Europe” – Jabłoński explained.

Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister vividly criticised the Kremlin’s narrative on the war. He exposed Russia’s so-called “denazification” policy toward its neighbours, stating, „if somebody is fascist, it’s Russia.”

Jabłoński insisted on the fact that Europe should continue to support Ukraine because if Russians would emerge victorious from the ongoing conflict, they would be quick to initiate another one. He underlined that Russia would try to discourage the West from supporting Ukraine through the manipulation of energy prizes, for example.

The Minister concluded on a positive note, assuring that the West (NATO, the EU) would not only endure the upcoming blows during the winter but even emerge stronger than Russia.

On Wednesday, he rejoiced about the European Parliament’s resolution declaring Russia a state sponsor of terrorism. On his Twitter account, Jabłoński called it “a strong voice of the EU condemning Russia’s actions and an expression of support for Ukraine, which has been facing Russian aggression for nearly nine months.
