Iga Świątek is in the final of the French Open for the third year in a row!

Iga Świątek qualified for the final of the French Open after defeating Coco Gauff in two sets (6-2; 6-4).

Both players had played against each other at eleven occasions previously The Pole won every time with only one exception. One of these wins from Świątek on Gauff took place in the final of the 2022 final at Roland Garros when the Varsovian lost only three games (6-1; 6-3) to claim the title. Overall, Gauff was already the player Świątek has beaten the most times on tour.

The Pole started aggressively and immediately broke to take an early lead (2-0). But she did not stop there and despite some courageous resistance from the American, Iga put some extra pressure on her, broke again, and took a 4-1 lead from where there was no coming back (6-1).

The second set started well for the American who broke early and took 3-1 lead. But Iga reacted instantly and leveled the score (3-3), before brutally breaking Gauff to love to make it 4-3. Gauff stayed determined to remain in the match but soon, it’s the Pole who was serving for the match (5-4).

The unavoidable happened and Iga secured her ticket for a third consecutive final in Paris. This win against Gauff was her 20th consecutive victory at Roland Garros. She did not lose in the French capital’s slam since 2021!

On Saturday afternoon, the Polish superstar will face either the Italian Jasmine Paolini or the Russian Mirra Andreeva.
