Iga Świątek has just qualified for the French Open’s final for the second time in her young career. The Varsovian who has just turned 21 this week is dominating the tennis world like never before. Comfortably seated on the throne of number 1, she continues to write the history of her sport.
On Thursday afternoon, Iga outplayed the Russian Daria Kasatkina by 6-2 and 6-1, cruising with ease to her second final at the French Open.
Besides competing for a second Grand Slam win, the world number one has a good chance of equalling Venus Williams’ record of 35 consecutive wins on the WTA tour.
She already overtook the Belgian Justine Henin (32) and tied with Serena Williams (34).
The young Pole will face the American Cori “Coco” Gauff, who reached the final at the last US Open. The match is planned for Saturday the 4th of July at 2pm (London time).
Last year, it is the Polish superstar striker Robert Lewandowski who made à whole nation proud by equalling and beating Gerd Müller legendary 40 goals in the Bundesliga.
Now it is Iga’s time. History is in the making!
