Ognisko Polskie in conjunction with PEEC Family Centre and Talking and Exploring presents a talk about General S F Sosabowski & the First Polish Independent Parachute Brigade, & Dr Major S J Sosabowski presented by Professor Hal Sosabowski as part of Polish Heritage Days.
Professor Hal Sosabowski will present the stories of his valiant ancestors, that is, his grandfather, Major General Stanislaw Sosabowski, and his father, Dr Major Stanislaw Sosabowski, who participated in the Warsaw Rising.
In addition to an illustrious academic career at Brighton University and the authorship of many popular science television programmes, the Professor is passionate about the history of Poland and his family. He has delivered his lectures in the Netherlands, the UK and Europe. For his efforts in promoting the 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade, he was awarded the ZPS (Association of Polish Parachutists, Polish Parachute Association) Gold Badge.
The lecture will be given by the Professor in English.
The organisers will be honoured to host representatives of the Embassy and Consulate of the Republic of Poland in the UK and other important personalities from public life in the UK, local authorities, and representatives of organizations with which we cooperate, as well as our supporters and friends. Understanding the importance of shaping national identity in the next generation of Poles living in the British Isles, we also invite representatives and students of Polish Saturday Schools in London.
There will, of course, be live Polish music accompanied by piano and violin. Refreshments will be served during the interval.
