London – Polish Independence Day & British Remembrance Sunday

We invite you to the celebration of Polish Independence Day and Remembrance Sunday at Northwood Cemetery, the second-largest Polish military cemetery in the United Kingdom, where 54 Polish airmen are laid to rest.

For another consecutive year, the British, in cooperation with the Polish Educational Society (Polska Macierz Szkolna) and Bentley Priory Museum Volunteers, invites you to the joint Polish-British commemoration of All Saints’ Day, British Remembrance Sunday and Polish Independence Day.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, 9 November 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Northwood Cemetery (Chestnut Avenue, Northwood HA6 1HR).

Nearest underground station: Northwood Hills.

At 11.00am sharp, we will observe a minute of silence.

We want to honour the tens of Polish and British pilots whose graves are at the cemetery.

As every year, the organisers expect many Polish children who will come with their parents or teachers from Polish Saturday schools. For them, such a ceremony is a wonderful lesson in patriotism and Polish history. Fifty-four Polish airmen are buried in this cemetery, mostly from 303 Squadron, who were not fortunate enough to return to Poland. It is a unique honour for us all to be able to light a candle for them together and thank them for their service to Poland.

Their brotherhood of arms never perished, and they lie together at the Northwood Cemetery.

Please come and join us on this important day.
