The Oxford University Language Centre is set to offer Polish language classes for the first time in the 2025/26 academic year, thanks to support from the Polish Embassy. These new courses will add Polish to the Centre’s suite of twelve modern languages and are open not only to students and staff at Oxford, but also to members of the wider community.
Prospective learners will begin by assessing their level via the Language Centre’s placement system. From there, two pathways are available: a General pathway and an Academic one. Classes will be conducted in person or online, depending on the chosen mode.
For Michaelmas Term 2025, the timetable includes a Stage-1, Part 1 course for beginners, in person on Wednesdays (11:00-12:30) and online on Thursdays (13:30-15:00), spanning Weeks 2-7. Enrollment opens on September 17 and closes at 12:00 p.m. on October 15. For those outside the University, a dedicated enrollment route is provided.
Students may apply for Priority Funding if they require the language to support their studies; funding may be mediated through their college, department or faculty. Course materials will be made available via Oxford’s Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas), and online sessions will be recorded for enrolled participants.
If you’re interested, you can see the full timetable, enrol, and assess your level on the Oxford Language Centre’s website. For wider engagement in promoting Polish language education across the UK, the Embassy welcomes contact via Krzysztof Kirdzik and Clarinda Calma.
