„Poland has taught us that ordinary citizens can shelter refugees and integrate them into society”, says British analyst Dr. Piotr Ney

The UK and the West have finally understood that Poland is in the avant-garde of the free world and on the first line of defence against Russia’s totalitarianism. This is one positive thing that results from Putin’s war,” British political analyst Dr Piotr Ney recently told Polskie Radio 24.

Dr Piotr Ney emphasised his amazement regarding the way Poles opened up to help refugees from Ukraine.

He further explained that, in his view, “the reputation and seriousness of Poland have improved significantly in the eyes of the West”.

I admire this cordial hospitality of Poles. We in the West have been humiliated by the way ordinary Poles have opened their homes to over one and a half million refugees. Now in the UK, we are trying to copy this approach. So far, we have associated refugees with camps, and Poland has taught us that ordinary citizens can shelter refugees and integrate them into society so that they can work, study and maintain their dignity. I would like to thank the Poles and Poland for this valuable lesson – he added.

Dr Ney also praised the depth of the ongoing public debate in Poland. “It is clearly visible that there are many experts in Poland with a great knowledge of Putin’s Russia – he underlined.
