The last few weeks haven’t been the happiest when it comes to Polish sports fans. Poland’s football team is historically low after its humiliating losses against Moldova and Albania. In turn, Polish tennis lovers just witnessed the dethronement of Iga Świątek from the number 1 spot of the WTA ranking.
But happily, Poles are excellent in another discipline, namely volleyball. On Thursday afternoon in Rome, the Polish men’s volleyball team dominated Slovenia in the semi-final.
The first set was very tight as both teams took their opportunities. Eventually, the Slovenians found their way through and took the lead (25:23).

From that moment on, it was game on. The Poles reacted efficiently and came back in the race (25:21) before taking the lead (25:20). In the fourth set, it looked as if Slovenia could push it to a decider, but Nikola Grbić’s men managed to seal the deal (25:21) and get their ticket to the final.
Poland, the runner-up in the two previous editions, is now preparing to face Italy, which outplayed France 3-0 later that day after an especially hard-fought first set.
The White and Reds were European champions for the last time back in 2009. The final opposing Poland to Italy will start on Saturday at 8.00 PM (UK time).
