The Polish national team ends the competition at the European Championships in Munich with fourteen medals and a sixth position in the medal standings. 

Aleksandra Lisowska won the first medal of this year’s European Championships for Poland against all odds. Her great performance contributed to the Polish women’s team winning the bronze medal. 

On Wednesday, Natalia Kaczmarek won silver in the 400-meter race, followed by Anna Kiełbasińska. 

Another big surprise is the runner-up title won by Ewa Różańska, who defended the honour of Polish hammerheads in the absence of Anita Włodarczyk and Malwina Kopron.

On Thursday, Poland gathered two additional medals. Wojciech Nowicki triumphed with the gold medal as the best hammer thrower. The other Polish competitor Paweł Fajdek finished just before the podium, at the 4th position. In turn, Adrianna Sułek won silver at the seven-kill. 

The Polish national team had a chance to win a medal in three competitions during the Sunday evening series – in the women’s 100 m hurdles race and in the women’s and men’s 4×100 m relay.

Pia Skrzyszowska was the first to compete for a medal in the final of the 100 m hurdles race. The Pole had the best starting reaction among all the contestants and won the gold medal. It was the first medal for Poland in this competition for 40 years.

Later, gentlemen of the relay team showed what they are capable of. Adrian Brzeziński, Przemek Słowikowski, Patryk Wykrota and Dominik Kopeć, sensationally won the bronze medal.

The silver medal was also won by a women’s relay including Pia Skrzyszowska, Anna Kiełbasińska, Marika Popowicz-Drapała and Ewa Swoboda.

Eventually, Polish athletes bring 14 medals back home from Munich – three gold, six silver, and five bronze. The only two countries which won more medals are the UK (20) and Germany (16).
