Last weekend was rich in successes for Polish footballers all across the continent. Goals, assists, trophies… Here’s a little update in case you missed something.
Let’s start with the most important one, i.e. Robert Lewandowski’s outstanding performance in the last few days. The Polish star scored three goals in Barcelona’s two last Super Cup games and even provided an assist. “RL9” started with a goal in the semi-final clash with Betis just before half-time, which was enough to get through the final.

Barcelona faced Real Madrid in the Super Cup final in a match played in Saudi Arabia. Just like last year in the league, the „Blaugrana” outplayed their historical rival in El Clásico by 3-1. Lewandowski had a significant contribution to the victory.
The Polish striker started by hitting the post from a distance. Soon after, he flashed assisting Gavi, who opened the score line. In the 45th minute, it’s the Spaniard who provided the Pole with a perfect ball in the penalty area. “Lewy” thus won his first trophy since joining the Catalan club. It’s also worth mentioning that FC Barcelona is undefeated this season when Lewandowski scores.

In Italy, Arkadiusz Milik was also decisive last week. The Juventus striker assisted Ángel Di María’s goal in a prestigious, crucial game against Napoli this season. Milik provided the Argentine with a clever pass which turned out to be an assist.
After having found the net on 1 January against PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, Przemysław Frankowski (Lens) scored his second goal of 2023 against Auxerre on a penalty. In the 59th minute of the match, „Franek” approached the penalty kick and left no chance to the keeper with a powerful hit, ensuring victory for his team.
In Cyprus, former Jagiellonia striker Karol Struski – who now plays for Limassol – found the net for the fourth time of the season with an absolute screamer during his team’s defeat 4-3 against Larnaca. See for yourself:

In England, Michał Helik scored his second goal in the Championship this season. The Huddersfield stopper found himself perfectly at the right place at the right time after a corner kick and headed the ball into the net. His team drew 1-1 with Hull.
