Polish marathoner Aleksandra Lisowska has claimed a gold medal, clocking less than 2.5 hours in the marathon at the 2022 European Championships in Munich.
For most of the marathon’s distance, the 31-year-old kept in the leading group before breaking away after 40 kilometres. From that moment on, she remained ahead of her rivals up until the finish line.

Lisowska finished the race in only 2 hours, 28 minutes and 36seconds, with an advantage of 6 seconds above the Croatian runner-up Matea Parlov Kostro and 16 seconds before the Dutch Nienke Brinkman, who finished third.

As Polskie Radio reports, other Polish female marathoners, Angelika Mach and Monika Jackiewicz, ranked 19th and 26th, respectively, which gave Poland a bronze medal in the three-athlete team marathon category.
