Polish striker Ewa Pajor has emulated her compatriot Robert Lewandowski by signing a three-year contract with FC Barcelona.
The 27-year-old becomes the first Polish woman to play for FC Barcelona and is committed to the Spanish and European champions until 30 June 2027. Like Lewandowski, who joined the Blaugranas in 2022, Pajor is her country’s captain and all-time leading goal scorer.
The talented forward concluded the previous season as the top scorer in the Frauen Bundesliga for the second time, netting 18 league goals. The season before, she was the leading scorer in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. In total, she amassed an impressive 136 goals in 196 appearances for Wolfsburg.
Up front, the Pole will play alongside Caroline Graham Hansen and Salma Paralluelo, who scored 66 goals between them. She is seen as a replacement for Mariona Caldentey, the club’s fifth highest goalscorer of all time with 20 goals last season, who announced earlier this month that she would be leaving the club at the end of her contract.
The Polish star made the move after requesting to end her contract at the German side VfL Wolfsburg, which was due to run until June 2025. The German club stated that Pajor had requested to invoke a contractually stipulated exit clause to pursue a new challenge abroad.
