Last weekend, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has been elected Polish Sports Personality of the year, organised by the newspaper Przegląd Sportowy. It is the second time in a row and the third time in total that the captain of the Polish national team received the prestigious award.

Robert Lewandowski was among the favourites before the official announcement due to his impressive performances with his club Bayern Munich. A few weeks ago, the fact that the France Football’s Ballon d’Or was denied to him raised numerous controversies.
As a matter of fact, the 33-years-old Polish sniper seems to get better and better every year. For the last two years, he has had more scored goals than games played. In other words, he reached the highest level of his sport to an extent that reminds of the regularity of football legends such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
„Congratulations to all the nominees and winners. Throughout last year, our athletes achieved great success. I always support you and I keep my fingers crossed for all of you, being proud that I am a part of this sports family. I would like to thank you for the emotions you gave us and for what you do for Polish sport,” said Lewandowski during the Gala of Sports Champions in Warsaw.
