British scientists have good news for the lovers of traditional Slavic cuisine. According to recent research, the famous first dish known as borscht is composed of beets and tomatoes, which can allow making weight loss easier.
The reason why the latter work so well comes from the fact that when all the components are roasted and steamed, the juice is released from the beets, which helps to improve metabolic processes.
Several hundred British women were invited to participate in the experiment. Each of them had to include borscht prepared with beets or tomatoes in their diet four times a week for a month.
Although borscht is considered a high-calorie dish, the results were impressive: all participants lost weight. Approximately 50% of them managed to lose 5kg (11lb), and some even managed to get rid of 10kg (22lb).
However, as Express Gazieta writes, it is important to underline that such an experiment would not have shown such results if the women had eaten bread together with their regular borscht.
Another research involving beet has also been conducted recently. The latter revealed that if you drink 200 grams of beetroot juice every day, you can get rid of seven kilograms in a month.
