Scotland: Polish women risked their own lives to pull people out of a burning car

January 2, 2020

Four cars were involved in a serious collision on the A915 Standing Stane Road between Kirkcaldy and Leven on December 30th 2019. The passengers couldn’t get out of vehicles because of serious injuries – broken legs and ribs. A fire broke out in one of the vehicles. Two Polish women – Natalia Kowszyn and Weronika Dawgul stopped to help and risked their own lives to pull people out of the burning car. They managed to drag the casualties a safe distance away. They showed incredible courage – according to TheCourier.co.uk.

The witness said: “There were two guys with broken legs so obviously I was saying to them they had to get out because the car was on fire. But the Polish girls were so brave: even when they saw the fire they never had any second thoughts about trying to get people out.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished a fire and all casualties were taken to hospital.
