Tamara Łempicka’s „Portrait du Docteur Boucard” to be auctioned at Christie’s London

On 5 March at 6 PM, Christie’s London will present Portrait du Docteur Boucard by Tamara Łempicka, a striking example of her bold and sophisticated Art Deco style.

Painted in 1928, this portrait was commissioned directly from the artist by Dr Pierre Boucard, a distinguished French physician and pharmaceutical entrepreneur. The painting remained in his family’s collection for decades, passing through generations before making its way to auction.

Łempicka’s work is celebrated for its elegance, precision, and modernist aesthetic. Portrait du Docteur Boucard is no exception—its smooth, sculptural forms, dynamic composition, and refined colour palette embody the glamour and confidence of the Jazz Age. As one of the most sought-after female artists of the 20th century, her paintings continue to captivate collectors and art enthusiasts worldwide.
