Ognisko Polskie organises for its members the launch of Roger Moorehouse’s latest book: “The Forgers – the forgotten story of the Holocaust’s most audacious rescue operation.”

This book tells the extraordinary story of Polish diplomats and Jewish activists in Switzerland, led by the Polish Ambassador to Switzerland, Aleksander Ładoś. Together they forged identity documents for Latin American countries which were smuggled into German-occupied countries, enabling thousands of Jews to be saved from the Holocaust. This proved to be one of the largest rescue missions of the entire war.

Roger Moorhouse will introduce his book at the reception, during which drinks and canapes will be served, with VIP guests in attendance. Complimentary tickets are available for Ognisko Polskie members to attend the reception, but must be pre-booked. Please note this event begins at 6.30 pm.

Advance copies of the book will be available to purchase at this event. Roger Moorhouse will also give a detailed presentation of his book at Ognisko Polskie on Tuesday, 10th October, further details of this event will be announced shortly.
