The Telegraph praises Poland as “the true leader of free Europe”

For the second time in just a few weeks, The Telegraph provides its readers with a touch of Poland. After a recent interview given by Polish Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński, the news outlet published an article by Con Coughlin, which underlines Poland’s avant-garde role when it comes to the Ukraine crisis.

In his article, Con Coughlin argues that in the midst of Poland’s exemplary conduct, “the EU’s attempts to humiliate Poles appear ill-judged, to say the least”.

While key EU states such as Germany and France have struggled to come to terms with the enormity of the challenge Mr Putin’s unprovoked act of aggression presents for the future of European security, it has been left to the plucky Poles to become the standard-bearers of anti-Russian resistance,” he continues.

Coughlin points out the fact that in addition to having welcomed a record 3 million Ukrainian refugees in just two months, Poland “has been at the forefront of calls of the West to provide a significant uplift in military support to Ukraine.”

The Telegraph’s article is concluded by a call to the British government to “learn something from the leadership qualities demonstrated by the intrepid Poles”.
