On behalf of For Your Freedom and Ours, we would like to invite you to the ceremony of unveiling of the crash site memorial dedicated to P/O Jerzy Ryszard Tuczemski from Polish No 315 City of Dęblin Fighter Squadron. This event will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the fatal crash, and it will become the addition to the Polish Wings Heritage Trail, a Polish approach to remembering the role of the Polish Air Force in Northern Ireland in the Second World War.

Eighty years ago, on the 22nd August 1943 Pilot Officer Jerzy Ryszard Tuczemski took off from RAF Ballyhalbert in his Spitfire VB AB245 PK-L8 on a navigation training sortie. He was taking part in a low flying practice over Country Armagh when his aircraft was observed experiencing engine trouble prior to flying into the ground at Craigs Wood, Long Mountain, near Rasharking, Co. Antrim. He was killed instantly.
