According to the Gerontology Research Group data, John Tinniswood, the world’s oldest living man, celebrated his 112th birthday on 26 August 2024 in Southport, England.
Mr Tinniswood was born on 26 August 1912 in Liverpool, Merseyside, England, United Kingdom. He served in the Royal Army administration with the Royal Army Pay Corps during 2 World War.
His work apart from accounting was to supervise logistical tasks such as locating stranded soldiers and planning food supplies. He married his wife, Blodwen in 1942. The couple were married for 44 years. Blodwen died in 1986.
On 26 August 2012, he celebrated his 100th birthday. When asked about secret tips for a long life he said you should be: “eating battered fish and chips every Friday”. While asked the same question on his 112 birthday, Mr Timmiswood replied: “No idea, really. Just luck, I think”.
Mr Tinniswood became the oldest known living man in the UK in 2020.
