Polish scientists’ #ScienceForUkraine initiative gains popularity worldwide

Right after Ukraine got invaded in late February, a group of researchers from the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, wrote an open letter addressed to academia across the world condemning the Russian invasion.

In their letter, the group of scientists led by Dr Maciej Maryla called for the EU to make sure that Ukraine remains part of the European research area.

They did not have to wait a long time to get an answer. The latter came from the academic community from other countries in large amounts.

Specific activities were launched as a result of it, like the creation of several scholarship funds, among other things. The #ScienceForUkraine campaign led to the creation of a website with available offers.

Our mission is to collect and disseminate information on the university, national, and international support opportunities for Ph.D. students and researchers directly related to the Ukrainian academic community […] On this page, you will find a wide range of paid academic positions for researchers, Ph.D. students or senior staff, academic transfer opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, as well as temporary housing,” we read on the scienceforukraine.eu website.

It took only two weeks to reach more than 1000 offers from all over the world in the database.
