The Polish chess champion Jan-Krzysztof Duda (JKD) has been in a fantastic disposition lately. The Pole has just won the prestigious Oslo Esports Cup tournament, which is part of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour series.
In the last round of the competition, the 24-year-old defeated Canadian Erik Hansen 2.5: 0.5 for his first victory on the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour.
JKD has been playing chess from the age of 5. Soon he began to achieve significant success in the national and international arena.
In 2005, he won the Polish Junior U8 Cup in Kołobrzeg. The following year, he won the bronze medal at the Polish Junior U10 Championships in the same city.
More recently, he won the Polish Championship in 2018 and the Chess World Cup in 2021. He was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit for his achievements in chess.
In total, JKD has won several dozen medals in the Polish championship series (both in classic, speed and blitz chess) in various age categories.
The Polish prodigy is increasingly marking his presence among the best chess players in the world. His recent triumph in the Swedish capital represents yet another significant achievement in his young career.
