The Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has announced the establishment of a collaborative NATO-Ukrainian centre in Bydgoszcz.
The latter will focus on analysis, training, and education, marking a pioneering initiative between NATO and Ukraine. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasised the centre’s role in gathering insights from the Ukrainian conflict and providing support to Kyiv.
Kosiniak-Kamysz appealed for increased investments in Europe’s defence, stressing the need for immediate action rather than long-term projections. He praised NATO’s eastern flank coungtries for meeting the alliance’s defence spending commitment, noting Poland’s heightened investment in defence modernisation.
The minister also announced the revitalisation of defence cooperation through the Weimar Triangle, involving France, Germany, and Poland. He also disclosed plans for the group’s first defence meeting in Poland ahead of the NATO summit in Washington.
Earlier this week, Polish PM Donald Tusk advocated for EU’s military empowerment during visits to Paris and Berlin, aligning with Poland’s broader diplomatic efforts. Ahead of the NATO summit, Poland anticipates discussions at the White House, with scheduled meetings involving Prime Minister Tusk and President Duda with US President Joe Biden on 12 March.
