Politico estimates that the Polish American diaspora secured Donald Trump’s victory in three key swing states in the US election. The Poles supported the Grand Old Party’s candidate in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia.
“Americans of Polish origin played an important role, as large communities of these voters are located in states that often determine the outcome of elections. The Politico portal analysed who the aforementioned group voted for. Counties in swing states populated by the largest number of Americans of Polish descent, such as Presque Isle in Michigan, Marathon in Wisconsin and Luzerne in Pennsylvania, supported Trump,” Polish news website Gazeta.pl reports after Politico.
Polish President Andrzej Duda thanked Polish-American voters in an X post after the US elections.
“Thank you to all my Compatriots (Poles and Polish Americans) eligible to vote in the USA, who cast their ballot in the presidential election. You have taken responsibility for the future of America into your hands. Let it be Great, with the benefit for You and also for the security and prosperity of Poland,” Andrzej Duda wrote.
Donald Trump won the US presidential election in general voting, with record turnout and secured his return to the White House. He is now the oldest person to take the position of president in the entire US history.
During the last presidential elections won by Donald Trump in 2016, the votes of the Polish diaspora had a decisive impact on the outcome. Back then Trump visited Poland and gave a remarkable speech celebrating Poland’s resilience in the fight for independence and the defeat of Communism.
