The 75th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem – Operation Market Garden

This year is the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem; 19th-22nd September 2019.

Three Polish veterans attended the ceremonies. They had taken part in the Operation Market Garden Battle in September 1944,. The three Polish veterans were : two from the UK : Henryk Kubinski; Konstanty Staszkiewicz; and from the USA : Tadeusz Cisek.
An exhibition was held in a special room at the Driel Church. The uniform of General S. Sosabowski and his memorabilia were on display, brought over from the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw.

Also on display were General A. Mackowiak’s medals and beret, from the special forces unit JW GROM, Poland, and including further items from the family.

On Saturday the 21st, Prince Charles attended the Polish Commemoration and laid a wreath at the Polish monument on Polenplein in Driel, in honour of the Polish soldiers.
