Alina Bzhezhinska
Alina Bzhezhinska born in Polish family in Lviv, Ukraine, has become one of the most innovative harpists in the UK, teaching at Goldsmiths University in London and performing and recording imaginative programmes featuring leading musicians like Django Bates, Tony Kofi, Shabaka Hutchinson and The Glasgow String Quartet.
Alina studied at the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland (Masters in Arts), and The University of Arizona, USA (Masters in Music Performance).
Her appearances include The Queen’s 80 th Birthday Celebration at Balmoral Castle, Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London, National Theatre in Warsaw, Live Shows at BBC Radio 3, London Jazz Festival and the World Harp Congress in Sydney.
Bzhezhinska has recorded a solo album Harp Recital and has appeared at recordings of the American harp ensemble Harp Fusion and Scottish jazz group New Focus (Whirlwind Records). Her newest album Inspiration (Ubuntu Music) was released in June 2018 and was presented at the Barbican, The Royal Albert Hall and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
Alina Bzhezhinska is a winner of The PRS Women Make Music Award.
Magdalena Durant
Magdalena Durant born in Wroclaw, Poland, began performing from an early age. At the Music Conservatory Karol Lipinski in Wrocław, Poland, Magdalena earned her Masters of Music diploma with Honours under Professor Danuta Paziuk-Zipser. She then earned a second Masters diploma and a prestigious Konzertexam from Professor Monica Pick-Hieronimi at the renowned Cologne State Higher School of Music in Germany.
Magdalena Durant has extensive stage experience of a broad and demanding operatic repertoire, including performing the roles such as Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Pamina in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Handel’s Teseo and Puccini’s Suor Angelica at the Wroclaw Opera, Konzerthous Berlin, Cologne and Altenberg Cathedrals and other venues. She performs throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America with the Berliner Kammeroper, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, St. Andrews Orchestra, New Edinburgh Orchestra as well as with ensembles led by renowned organist John Kitchen in Edinburgh. As a special highlight, she was featured in the 2008 ARD/WDR television documentary Ein Klavier geht. Additionally, Magdalena Durant is also an experienced entertainer with many jazz, gospel and operetta engagements to her credit.
Currently, Magdalena Durant resides in Edinburgh, Scotland where she is a vocal tutor for the University of Edinburgh. She is fluent in English, German and Italian in addition to her native Polish language.
