According to a report by the Daily Mail, former UK Defence Minister Ben Wallace has not dismissed the prospect of British troops potentially engaging in combat in Ukraine.
Wallace explained his thought by stating that „part of deterrence lies in maintaining ambiguity,” stressing the importance of keeping adversaries uncertain about the extent of British commitment and actions.

„This is precisely what Putin excels at – cultivating uncertainty. It is imperative that we keep our options open and maintain an air of uncertainty” – he underlined.
Wallace emphasised the necessity of conveying to Putin the severity of his actions in Ukraine. „It is crucial that Putin understands that we regard his actions in Ukraine with utmost seriousness. In my opinion, President Putin – as evidenced by the recent farcical election – bears the closest resemblance to Adolf Hitler that our generation has witnessed” – he continued.

On 26 February, French President Emmanuel Macron voiced the opinion that the deployment of Western troops to Ukraine should not be dismissed in the future. However, various NATO members, including the US, Poland, Germany, Czechia, Canada, and the UK, publicly rebuffed the notion of sending troops to Ukraine in response to Macron’s comments.
