The head of the Ministry of Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, met with his British counterpart John Healey. After the meeting, the politician announced that up to six British Eurofighter aircraft will start duty in Polish airspace from January next year.
The announcement also mentions the aid of the engineering troops at Poland’s eastern border with Belarus and more support for the navy and air defence projects.
Polish Defence Minister Kosianik-Kamysz announced closer cooperation between the Polish and British arms industries.
“We are working on further projects, such as joint efforts to develop the production of 155 mm ammunition, we are conducting two major projects, Narew and Miecznik, in which the UK is a strategic partner,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Defence.
The British army unit now based in Poland is part of the NATO multinational battle group stationed in Orzysz. By the end of this year, the British Sky Sabre air defence system will join the forces protecting Rzeszów-Jasionka airport which secures the transportation of weapons and fuel to Ukraine.
